Our Story

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Cedar Hill, Texas, One Grace Church stands as a testament to faith, resilience, and the enduring power of community. At the helm of this spiritual sanctuary are Cynthia and Alvin Carter, the lead Servants who have committed their lives to fostering an environment where love, grace, and transformation flourish. Their journey is not merely one of leadership, but a living tapestry woven with devotion, unwavering faith, and a deep-seated love for God’s people.

  • The journey into pastoral leadership for Cynthia and Alvin Carter began with an inspired vision—one that sought to bring spiritual connection and encouragement to those in need. In 2017, Cynthia initiated gatherings for the Christian Women Connection (CWC) of North Texas, convening women from various backgrounds across the Dallas area. What commenced as informal meetings soon blossomed into a vibrant fellowship, united in the pursuit of spiritual growth and mutual support.

These gatherings were more than just meetings; they fostered bonds of sisterhood, cultivated spiritual gifts, and ignited a collective desire for deeper worship and teaching. Cynthia’s gift for nurturing and inspiring others became evident, as she guided women into greater faithfulness and unity. Her leadership, marked by humility and wisdom, drew others into the fold, creating an atmosphere where every voice was valued and every heart was uplifted.

  • By 2019, the informal gatherings of the CWC had transformed into something more profound—a house church, rooted in the home of Pastor Cynthia and Brother Alvin. This evolution was not accidental but rather a natural outgrowth of their passion for worship, the Word, and authentic community. The house church model provided a setting where believers could experience Christ in an intimate and personal way, unencumbered by the formality of traditional church structures.

The regular services held in their home were characterized by heartfelt worship, relevant biblical teaching, and intentional community building. Every gathering was an opportunity to encounter God’s presence, to share burdens and joys, and to grow together in grace. These services became a spiritual oasis, drawing in former members, family, and friends—each seeking belonging, encouragement, and transformation.

  • When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, shaking the foundations of traditional gatherings, Cynthia and Alvin Carter demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. Though the world seemed to pause, their commitment to spiritual connection and ministry only intensified. Harnessing the power of technology, they began leading weekly national prayer calls with family and friends via Zoom, transcending physical boundaries to unite believers in prayer and encouragement.

Pastor Cynthia’s ministry expanded during this season, as she continued to reach women across the country, offering hope and unity amid uncertainty. Her words became a lifeline to many who faced isolation, anxiety, and doubt. The Carters’ willingness to innovate and persevere ensured that the spirit of community remained alive, even when doors were shut and gatherings were restricted. Their ministry during this time exemplified the very heart of pastoral care—meeting people where they were and pointing them toward the enduring hope and grace found in Christ.

  • On Palm Sunday of 2024, the vision that had been nurtured in prayer and faithful service came to life as Cynthia and Alvin Carter held the inaugural service of One Grace Community Fellowship Church. This milestone event was attended by former members, family, and friends, all eager to celebrate the manifestation of God’s promise. The church, rooted in the principles of love, worship, and community, quickly became a beacon of hope in Cedar Hill and the greater Dallas area.

Since its establishment, One Grace Church has experienced significant growth in both purpose and presence. The congregation is united by a shared desire to spread the gospel, to love God wholeheartedly, and to serve the needs of others. The Carters’ leadership has nurtured an environment where opportunities to grow in grace and experience abounding transformation spiritually through biblical teaching and the palpable presence of Jesus Christ.

  • At the core of One Grace Church lies a set of values that guide every aspect of its ministry:

    • Loving God: Every service, gathering, and outreach is centered on deepening relationship with God. Worship is not simply an activity, but a way of life, reflecting the love and devotion that the Carters have modeled for their congregation.

    • Extending Grace: Disciples Making Disciples: The ministry extends beyond the walls of the church, reaching into the community with acts of service, compassion, and generosity. Cynthia and Alvin have dedicated themselves to nurturing others, offering prayer, encouragement, and support in every season.

    • Transforming Lives:  Building Christ-centered Families and Communities: One Grace Church is more than a place of worship—it is a family, where every member is valued, embraced, and empowered to grow in their relationship with Jesus. The emphasis on community ensures that no one walks alone and that the bonds of faith are continually strengthened.

Continuing a Legacy of Faith: The Carters’ journey—rooted in their upbringing, marriage, and lifelong service—has shaped a legacy that inspires others to pursue faithfulness and transformation. Their example invites others to step into leadership, to serve with joy, and to pass on the light of Christ to future generations.  Psalm 22:30;  Psalm 90:16-17
